ICAR-IASRI celebrated National Science Day on February 28, 2021

ICAR-IASRI celebrated National Science Day on February 28, 2021. Professor A.K. Srivastava, Former Joint Director, ICAR-IASRI delivered a lecture on Sample Survey: Theory and Applications: Some experiences at IASRI (a Historical perspective). In this lecture he has covered historical aspects of development of statistical theory, applications and its implementation in National Statistical System, Challenges and opportunities with the technology change such as remote sensing, drones, etc. He also narrated several important books. He also gave an elegant development of ICAR-IASRI over years beginning 1930.

Dr Rajender Parsad, Director, ICAR-IASRI, in his introductory remarks explained about the Theme of National Science Day 2021: Future of Science, Technology and Innovations: Impacts on Education, Skills and work. He also urged upon to popularize the importance and usefulness of Statistics/Statistical Sciences in technology generation, policy planning in the welfare of the Society and emphasized the need of efforts towards development of entrepreneurship in Statistical Sciences.  Students made a presentation on National Science Day that included several sketches prepared by the students. Dr Seema Jaggi, Professor (Agricultural Statistics) presented vote of thanks. All faculty members and students participated in the celebrations.
