Training & Administrative Cell

Training Administration Cell (TAC) coordinates and compiles the information related to teaching and training activities of the institute. The various teaching and the training-related programmes undertaken by the institute are detailed below.

The institute conducts Post Graduate teaching in Agricultural Statistics, Computer Application and Bioinformatics for human resource development. Institute is conducting M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in Agricultural Statistics since 1964, M.Sc. in Computer Application since 1985-86, Ph.D. in Computer Application since 2013- 14, M.Sc. in Bioinformatics since 2011-12 and Ph.D. in Bioinformatics since 2014-15. The planning, organization and coordination of M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in all the three disciplines are carried out in collaboration with PG School, IARI, New Delhi. The students passed out occupy prestigious positions in India and abroad. The academic and other related activities of students are looked after by the respective Professors of the three teaching disciplines.

The institute conducts a number of training programmes on different topics of Agricultural Statistics and Informatics. The Institute conducts Senior Certificate Course, a practical oriented agricultural statistics course with greater application of computer usage for the officials of various government/research organizations. The institute has been identified by ICAR as Centre for Advanced Faculty Training (CAFT) in Agricultural Statistics and Computer Applications under which a number of trainings are organized for the researchers of the National Agricultural Research and Education System. The institute also conducts Winter/Summer schools on specialized topics and trainings assigned by the Human Resource Management (HRM) Unit of ICAR. The institute is also known for its ad-hoc and customized training programmes in these areas for public and private sectors. International training programmes are also being conducted. The institute provides Internship programmes in Agricultural Statistics, Computer Application and Bioinformatics for a period of three to six months for the postgraduate students of other universities.

Besides the above, TAC is also involved in organizing and conducting Institute’s Annual Day, Teacher’s Day and other student’s related events.
