Valedictory Function of Training Programme on Data Analysis and Interpretation for Indian Statistical Services Probationers dated 29th April 2022

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (ICAR-IASRI) organized a Training Programme on “Data Analysis and Interpretation” during 18-29 April, 2022 for 30 Indian Statistical Service probationers from 43rd and 44th batches. The Training Programme was sponsored by National Statistical Systems Training Academy, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Govt. of India. Dr. RC Agrawal, DDG Education and National Director, NAHEP inaugurated the training on 18th April. Training program was concluded on 29th April, 2022 through a valedictory session. In this session, Dr. Rajender Parsad, Director, ICAR-IASRI highlighted the important contributions of the Institute and also presented the important areas where Institute in currently working. Dr. B N Mandal, Course Director presented brief report of the training programme and also read out the feedback provided by the trainees. As per trainees, the training was a very good learning experience for them and they wished for longer duration of the training period.  Dr. Tauqueer Ahmad, Head, Division of Sample Surveys pointed out the significant works done by the Sample Survey Division in Government of India programmes and international linkages of the Institute with respect to various sample survey schemes. The session was chaired by Dr. P.S. Birthal, Director, ICAR-National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research. Dr Birthal in his valedictory address pointed out that usage of correct data and correct data analysis tools along with proper interpretation of the analysed result is very crucial. He highlighted that reporting of incorrect statistics may lead to catastrophic events and as ISS, trainees should present correct statistics to the policy makers so that such catastrophic events may be avoided by proper planning. The session ended with a formal vote of thanks to all the attendees by Dr. Ankur Biswas, Course Co-director.
